Candied Sweet Potatoes

Tender sweet potato rounds baked in a buttery brown sugar glaze until sticky, caramelized, and irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into rounds
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

    Preheat and arrange
    Preheat the oven to 375°F and arrange the sweet potato rounds in a buttered baking dish.

    Make the glaze
    Melt the butter in a saucepan, then stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until dissolved.

    Glaze the potatoes
    Stir the vanilla into the glaze, then pour it evenly over the sweet potatoes.

    Bake covered
    Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.

    Finish uncovered
    Uncover and bake another 15 minutes, basting once, until the potatoes are tender and the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
